| The CADTERNS
Casual Shirt is a second-generation sloper based on the Classic Shirt Sloper. It consists
of shirt back, front with fold-back facing, one-piece collar, sleeve and cuff. |

| The casual shirt sloper is a great place to
start making warm or cool, comfortable shirts for sport or relaxation. Knitted or woven
fabrics of cotton, synthetic or blends in plain, striped, plaid or printed fabric, the
casual shirt can present a variety of looks. Shortening and squaring the sleeve eliminates
both cuff and placket making the casual shirt an excellent first project. Further
simplify a casual shirt by replacing collar and cuffs with rib knit bands or finished
pieces. Vary the weight and texture of knit fabrics - single knits, double knits, looped
or sheered velour knits to achieve light and medium weight casual shirts or heavier
sweatshirts. |

|
| This basic, uncomplicated shirt is
notable for the simplicity of pattern shapes and adaptability. Use it for variations from
pajama tops to lightweight outerwear jacket. It is an example of styling using creative
elimination techniques. Main blocks of the classic shirt have been retained while some of
the details have been combined with blocks (e.g. front facing) and options (e.g. back
pleat) have been eliminated. |
