The course will feature the CADTERNS
software program and revolutionary Fit-FIRST system
of personal patternmaking, providing new options for
teaching flat pattern design.
Vera Buxton who is teaching the
course, has successfully used
CADTERNS
to introduce students who are new to sewing, about how to
sew without the need to always purchase a pattern.
Participating teachers will use
CADTERNS
to instantly calculate their own personal Ready-to-Styleä
slopers (collection of basic fitting blocks). In addition,
participants will learn how to combine these basic slopers
from CADTERNS
with the entry-level CAD program, AutoSketch. Participants
will learn to style unique personal sewing patterns for
their own fashion interests, experiencing first-hand how
computer-assisted patternmaking might be applied in their
own classrooms.
Not only will participating teachers
have a creative way to wind up summer 2005 holidays, they
will be able to add 3 credits to their teaching credentials
at the same time. Does the end of the summer and start of a
new school year get any better than that?
NB: Number of spaces is limited to 16
and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Registration deadline is Friday June 17. For further detail,
