Welcome to the CADTERNS CSOL (CyberSchool of On-line Learning) where you can learn how to turn personal slopers into personal patterns.

If your patternmaking interests are educational, entrepreneurial or recreational, CADTERNS has some great fitting tools just for you.  Whether you are a designer, a patternmaker or another fashion prosumer, CADTERNS will help you to "think outside of the box" so that you can style your own personal patterns for your own personal fashion statement.  If fitting and styling personal patterns is of interest, you should indeed have CADTERNS at your fingertips.

You will find CADTERNS very easy to understand and very, very simple to use.  Using CADTERNS you could instantly calculate personal Ready-to-StyleÔ slopers and start making personal patterns immediately.   If you would like guidance, the CADTERNS CyberSchool of On-line Learning has lessons available at a cost of $50.00 per multi-media unit.

Q: Is it necessary to take lessons in order to use CADTERNS or the Fit-FIRST system?

A: NO!

The lessons are offered as a convenience for keen teachers, students, entrepreneurs and other seamstresses and seamsters who want to learn how to make their own personal patterns.  Those who already know personal patternmaking might simply like to refresh or  add to their patternmaking knowledge from another perspective.

Of the 5 units in the CADTERNS Personal Patternmaking series, three have been completed and two are in progress:

1.      Introduction to Computer-Assisted Patternmaking
·          Crash Course in Fashion Design and Patternmaking
·          CADTERNS Fit-FIRST System of Personal Patternmaking

2.      DartArt1 – Rearranging Darts
·          Rotating
·          Combining
·          Dividing

3.      DartArt2 – Disguising Darts
·          Tucks
·          Gathers
·          Seamlines
·          Flare
·          Fullness

4.      Adjusting Pattern Fullness
·          Squared Fullness
·          Flared Fullness.

5.      Finishing the Pattern
·          Functional Finishing
·          Decorative Finishing

Lessons consist of a combination of booklets with text and illustrations, MorphWheel illustrations and Viewlets (sequential slide shows). They are presented in a way that enables you to choose the days, times and length of time that you spend on each lesson. The final step of each unit is a challenge to help us both to know if you fully understand the lessons. To earn CADTERNS certification if you choose, you will need to submit your responses to the challenges.

The following table introduces you in terms of previous background in Flat Pattern Design and CAD (none is required). It is possible to work manually without being able to work digitally, but for Computer-Assisted (digital) Patternmaking, manual patternmaking is highly recommended as a quick and easy cross-reference.   There are lessons for both manual and digital tools and techniques

To fully understand the foundation and philosophy of CADTERNS and the CADTERNS Fit-FIRST system, be sure to watch the Fit-FIRST viewlet (slide show) or through a link from our Home Page at www.cadterns.com. This slide show runs automatically and returns to the first page when finished. You may be able to pause and restart the presentation by pressing the space bar on your keyboard.

Each viewlet will proceed from start to finish unless you intentionally stop it. You are welcome to use viewlets as often as you wish.

Once we have received the completed registration (as attached) and payment as listed at https://wwws2.blaze.ca/~cadterns/education.htm you will receive confirmation and introductory information. An example of a completed registration is available upon request.

You can start immediately if you wish, by downloading and reading the free Crash Course on Fashion Design and Patternmaking. Send any questions you have to info@cadterns.com.
